been a while since the last post.
alot has been happening since then.
we did have a christmas break in late december
but work still continued.
as mentioned in my last post alot of things have to happen at the same time.
coordinating these things can be quite a task.
but we have managed to turn in drawings for the building permit,
site as been cleared enough so the form work for the foundation could be built,
and the first work workday for the Tech Habitat chapter was last Saturday.
needless to say we are all learning alot.
especially about construction.
we can thank dale nugent for that. (local builder with Habitat for Humanity)
there's a big difference between what exists on paper and how things come together
on the job site even though essentially the are the same.
it's more about the process now and not just the finished product.
not only the process of building construction but incorporating the finanacial, public relations, etc. as well.
i think if the smaller tasks and jobs are done well
essentially the final product will be a good one.

crunch time
right now my class and i are working on getting a set of drawings done before our christmas break. we also have to coordinate all the site prep activities to happen before then, too. it sounds easy when you say it like that but all the little things that have to be done. Like trying to find the people to do all the site work at the right price, talking to numerous people on all fronts and coordinating the information between them to be on the same level, finding materials suitable for our project and if they can be donated, still remembering the design and it's progression, and i'm sure there is a whole bunch of other things i'm forgetting to mention right now. but you get the point. juggling these activities is the main priority. letting one go overlooked or not looked into fully could be detrimental to the entire project. and i've learned so far it's okay not to know all the answers cause we are always learning. and there's always someone or some resource that can help you find the answer. plus i'm not working on this alone and it's nice to be working on a project like this with 10 other people who care about completing this project too. although the challenges we are currently undertaking are more than a handful, and we haven't even started building yet, i'm looking forward to the future challenges and figuring them out together.
